Case 1020: Aw Kin Tat & Low Choon Heong

Background of the case:

Kin Tat and his grandmother lives in a temple and they are unable to cope with the daily expenses because they don’t have any jobs to gain income. They only depend on their neighbors to provide some food.

Kin Tat’s health status is not suitable to let him work. Since he was born, he don’t have an oesophagus and he faced a duodenal tube inserted surgery when he was about 10 months old.However, due to the side effects of the surgery, his body gradually wasted away and his strength weakened. He could not pronounce his mouth properly and even his neck was swollen before. Now (43 years old), his body was thin to the bone and his accent was slurred. Hence, it is really impossible for him to find a job in such a bad condition. He only can do is always staying with grandmother.

Kin Tat’s parents left him in the care of his grandmother when he was in a young age. His parents have worked away from home and never returned to visit them. Hence, Kin Tat don’t have a connection with them. In spite of their current difficult situation, his parents did not care. Even so, her grandmother still insisted on raising Kin Tat. However, Due to her old age, her mind is not clear, and her ability to move is slow, so the grandmother only can stay together with her grandson.

When seeing grandmother go through a hard life with him every day, even the bed frame is rotten, as a grandson, he no doubt felt very sad and guilty. Finally, he entrusted Hero Medical Charity Society (HMCS) to raise funds from the public for following supplies and living expenses: –

1) Bed frame (RM350 x 1)

2) Living Expenses (RM300/month)

RM300 x 3 = RM900

3) Ensure Gold Milk Powder (RM202/month)

RM202 x 3 = RM606

4) Foodstuffs (Rice/Canned Food) (RM250/month)

RM250 x 3 = RM750

Total: RM2606

婆婆：刘春香 （81岁）

孙子：欧乾达（43岁）

个案背景：

乾达和婆婆居住在一所庙里，平时的日常开销没有能力应付，因为他和婆婆没有工作收入维持不了生活。都是靠左邻右舍提供一些食物维持。

乾达的身体状态无法让他有能力去工作。

自出生以来，他因为天生没有食道，于是在大约10个月大的时候，就进行了十二指肠接喉管手术。然而，因为这个手术的副作用，导致他从小到大的身体逐渐消瘦，力气衰弱，口腔也没有办法正常发音，甚至颈部也曾经发肿的症状。如今，如今乾达43岁，他的身体已经消瘦到骨头凸显的地步，口音也含糊不请，因此身体在这样不好的条件下，真的没有办法找到工作。无奈的他也只能和年迈的婆婆相依为命。

乾达的亲生父母从乾达很小的时候就把他交给婆婆照顾到大，并且一直都在外地工作，未回来看过他们。因此，乾达和自己的亲生父母感情并没有多深厚，甚至他和婆婆生活如此困难的状态，他们也未曾关心。然而，即便是这样，坚强的婆婆还是坚持把乾达养大。但无奈的是，因为年纪过大，头脑不清晰，行动能力也慢，因此同样心有余而力不足的婆婆，最后也只能和自己的孙子相依为命。

看着年老的婆婆每天都和自己熬苦地过日子，连睡觉的床架也烂了，身为孙子的他无疑感到痛心无比，内疚万分。最终，他唯有委托我们英雄医疗慈善协会Hero Medical & Charity Society ( HMCS )向大众筹募以下物资和生活费用： –

1）床架 (RM350 x 1)
