Poverty Family Support
Case No. 1008 : Mdm Low Geok Boey (66y/o) has become the pillar of the family due to the death of her husband. She suffered a stroke in 2018 and is still yet to recover.
There are still two disabled people in the family : 31y/o daughter (Lai Kam Choo) & 13y/o grandson (Lai Kit Siong), and (pictured below) the seemingly dilapidated house is their warm haven.
Even in her sixties, she still had to find a way to support the family with her sick body. She used to look for a job, but no one hired her because of her age & health, so she had to make a living by scavenging. Their home has accumulated more and more debris due to scavenging, and it has evolved into what it looks like today.
The OKU daughter suffers from congenital hydrocephalus. It will cause the patient will feel dizzy if the condition get worse. However, Mdm Low has not let her daughter go for any surgery due to the high cost and risks of the surgery. Hydrocephalus has also caused her daughter to suffer from hearing issue, but Mdm Low was unable to equip her with a hearing aid.
Although the grandson with autism is young, but he is very sensible. He understands that it is not easy for his grandmother to earn money by scavenging. He often skips meals in order to save money, which leads to his health problems. With a thin physique, his hands and feets are uncoordinated, and often twists & turns without his own control.
They even have problems with food and clothing, they often divide a box of meals to share it by two person. The grandson’s school uniform and schoolbag are very worn out, and he don’t ask his grandmother to buy him any stationery. The lens of the daughter’s glasses has been broken for a long time, and they have no extra money to buy a new pair of glasses.
Mdm Low and her daughter required follow-up visits regularly to get medicines due to health problems. All kinds of these expenses caused a lot of stress to Mdm Low.
It is not easy for an elderly to raise and take care of her disabled daughter and grandson by scavenging. We sincerely call out to enthusiastic people from all walks of life to help this impoverished family let them feel the love and warmth in the world.

清寒家庭 爱心救济
众筹编号 1008 ：刘玉梅 Low Geok Boey（66岁）因丈夫离世而成为家中的顶梁柱，她曾在 2018 年不幸中风，至今仍未痊愈。
家中尚有两名残疾人士：31岁的女儿（赖金珠Lai Kam Choo）与13岁的孙子（赖吉祥），三人相依为命。而（下图）看似破败不堪的房子就是他们的避风港。
即使年入六旬，她却不得不想办法顶着生病的躯体去寻找经济来源支撑这个家。曾经她四处寻找工作，但年龄的缘故导致无人雇用，最终只得靠拾荒为生。家里也因为拾荒而堆积了越来越多的杂物，演变成现在的模样。
残疾的女儿患有先天性脑积水，病情持续恶化会让病人感到晕厥，但因为动手术的费用庞大，而且具有一定的风险，所以婆婆迟迟没有让女儿去动手术。脑积水也让女儿出现听力障碍，但婆婆也没能力为她配一部助听器。
患有自闭症的孙子年纪虽小却非常懂事，体谅到婆婆拾荒挣钱不容易，时常为了省钱而不吃饭，导致健康出现问题。体格瘦弱的他手脚不协调，常常不受自己控制的扭转。
平日里他们连吃穿都成问题，经常一盒饭分两个人吃。孙子的校服和书包都非常破旧，文具用品也没舍得让婆婆买。女儿的眼镜镜片坏了许久，也没多余的钱去配一副新的眼镜。
婆婆和女儿都因为健康问题常常需要复诊取药，种种开销让这位拾荒婆婆喘不过气来。
自力更生的拾荒婆婆独自抚养照顾残障的女儿和孙子实属不易，还望各界热心人士对此清寒家庭施以援手 让他们感受到人间有爱 有温情。
